So it's late April 2020 and the country has been in lockdown since March 23rd in order to tackle the global pandemic of Corona Virus.
Now I know most of you know this already, but I felt like I needed to document this moment. Just in case Aliens or someone from the future or past ever read this you know!
So I was working behind a Bar and teaching Dance Classes when this all kicked off and Phill was super busy with his Joinery Business. And then suddenly, no work. No money. No going out. What do we do with ourselves!?
I'm lucky enough to be able to teach a couple of classes a week virtually over the internet. So that keeps me occupied for around 3 hours a week! Haha. Phill on the other hand, has less to keep himself busy. He can't work as he shouldn't be in other peoples homes, our flat is tiny with no outside space and the pubs are shut! haha.
So that's where this project came in! It started with us deciding to paint the hallway and the living room. Which quickly turned into a full flat renovation! Which we are going to do over time but we have definitely made a start!
Starting with the living room. Which used to be a lovely boring Magnolia with dark brown units! I don't have a before picture because we started painting before I decided to start this Blog! But here's a "mid way through" picture.
We chose an Olive Green! This is actually Wilkos Statement Wall in the colour Urban Jungle. We used 2 tins in the end. The whole side of this room needed 2 coats but I love it!.
For the built in units, fireplace and coffee table I decided on chalk paint. I used the Rustoleum Chalk Finish Furniture Paint in Chalk White. I distressed with sandpaper and then finished with a clear matt top coat also by Rustoleum.
We really wanted to brighten this room up and it's worked! Although it's not finished yet, one side is and I'm really pleased with the outcome.
